Pre-set pressure on the diaphragm pressure vessel

How to set the pre-pressure on the diaphragm pressure vessel successfully

The pressure of the diaphragm tank should be checked twice a year when it is not under pressure and refilled if necessary.

  1. Switch off the pump
  2. Open the tap and drain the water/pressure. Leave the tap open and only then check the air pressure and top up if necessary.
  3. The air cushion must be measured using a pressure gauge on the air valve.
  4. The pre-pressure should be approx. 0.2 bar below the pressure switch's switch-on pressure.

    Example: Start pressure 2,5 bar:

    2,5 - 0,2 = 2,3 bar pre-pressure

  5. Refill air cushion if necessary

If water comes out of the air valve during the test, the membrane is leaking and must be replaced.

If the pressure switch turns on and off, the air cushion is usually missing.

In the event of pressure loss, please also check:

  • Air valve cap nut
  • Cap nut on the suspension of the diaphragm tank (from 100 l)
  • Screws of the connecting flange
